Admissions

We currently have spaces in our Nursery class and in our Year R, 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 classes. If interested, please see the section on In-Year Admissions below.

(Information correct as at November 2017).

In-Year Admissions

The Governors can accept applications for in-year admissions into the school at any time via the school office and submission of a completed In-Year Admission Form and Supplementary Information Form. Admissions will depend on vacancies in the relevant year groups. If there are more applicants than places available, then the most recent published over-subscription criteria will apply. Parents/Guardians have the opportunity to place their names on the Continued Interest List if a place is not available at the time of the application. For in-year applications, parents wishing to make an appeal should contact the school office on admin@stmarys916.herts.sch.uk.

Further information on in-year applications can be found on the below link.

Reception Admissions for Year 2018/19

All school admission authorities are required to undertake consultation on their admission arrangements if they are changing their arrangements. Even if no changes are being made, they are still required to carry out a consultation at least once every seven years. As St Mary’s is a voluntary-aided school, the Governing Body is the admitting authority.

The Governing Body undertook a consultation on our draft admissions arrangements for the academic year 2016/17, which took place between 2 January and 27 February 2015. Responses were received from Hertfordshire County Council and from the Diocese of St Albans. Following from that, the Governing Body has determined the admission arrangements for the academic year 2018/19 as follows:

Prospective Parent Letter Reception 2018-19

Nursery Admissions for Year 2018/19

Maintained schools in Hertfordshire are now responsible for the admissions of children to nursery in 2018-19 and onwards.

The following Berkhamsted schools: Bridgewater, Greenway, St Mary’s, Swing Gate, Victoria and Westfield, are working together to ensure the process is the same in each school and that parents receive consistent information that will enable them to make informed decisions about their preferred nursery school.

The timeline for the nursery admissions process is published below.  Further information regarding parent tours and open mornings in each school and the procedure for applying for a nursery place will also be published on each school website.

The following timeline for Nursery applications is being followed by the schools listed above:

5 February 2018 – Nursery applications open.  Application via online form on the school website (paper copies are available from the school on request)

16 March 2018 – Nursery applications close for on time applications (applications can be accepted at any point after this date, but will be dealt with after on time applications)

25 April 2018 – Nursery places are offered to families by email

4 May 2018 – Deadline for accepting Nursery places

(From 4 May onwards, schools can continue to accept applications and allocate Nursery places to children, based on availability).
