SIAMS Church School Inspection

Outstanding Church School

St Mary’s, along with all church schools, takes part in an inspection additional to the Ofsted inspection. This inspection is known as the SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) and focuses on aspects of the school which make it distinctive as a church school.

The final report from our inspection states that the distinctiveness and effectiveness of St Mary’s School is OUTSTANDING.

You can download the full report here but some of the highlights include:

  • Underpinned by strong Christian values, the leadership of the school is totally committed to the best outcomes for every pupil.
  • The relentless drive of governors, through rigorous monitoring and evaluation, enables a constant flow of school improvement in all aspects of the school as a church school.
  • The vision, energy and expertise of the Religious Education Co-ordinator ensures that standards are steadily rising across the school in religious education.
  • The inspired input of the local clergy and the senior leadership of the school ensures that collective worship is considered by pupils to be a vital part of their education and development.

The areas for development form part of the school development plan for 2014/15.
